One of the
reasons for coming to Sendai was a workshop that currently takes place here. It
started a few days ago and gives really nice insights (Tsunami impacts and
the recovery). The only problem is that most of it is in Japanese. Although some
of the stuff is translated or we have English versions of the presentations
it´s extremely tiring. You look at someone talking to you and you do not
understand anything. But on the other hand, one picture can tell you a thousand
words, and so you still get a lot by looking at the figures and pictures that
are presented.
The day before yesterday afternoon we also an outdoor session that was a kind of weird, but actually
worked. So, everyone is standing in a circle and takes two reference people
(without telling which). When the action starts you will try to get into
equidistance (the real distance may vary) with them and keep it. So everyone
starts moving and at a certain point equilibrium is found. Now one person is
taken and placed at the side and you can see the people start moving again
until the new equilibrium is reached.
You might
now wonder what that “game” is good for. Well it shows that when an element
within a dynamic system is changed the whole system needs to adapt to find a
new equilibrium. Now you can do the transfer into Ecosystems or whatever System
you are working with; works, right?
So yesterday we made our field trio to several locations in the Myagi prefecture. The weather forced me to go to the meeting point near the station by bus. And it was 15 minutes late! Something impossible! But i was happy not to walk in that rain! I´ll write about the trip in my next post, but there is one thing I need to show you:
Once again,
I’ll keep you updated!

ReplyDeleteIn Sudan we've seen a LKV from EDEKA too! was really a highlight :)
